About Us

Established in 2023, ChessUnlocked (501c3) was founded out of a shared desire to give back to the beautiful chess community that had contributed so much to our chess careers and lives. Beginning as FreeChess, an online Chess.com Club that offered free lessons, educational articles, and discussions, we quickly expanded into more expansive endeavors.

We realized chess could be more than a game. It could serve as a bridge between people, fostering tangible communal growth through education. Thus, that same year, we expanded our efforts beyond the virtual board and began organizing similar in-person events to promote chess on a community level.

At ChessUnlocked, our mission is simple. We strive to make chess increasingly accessible, meaningful, and impactful around the world, one step at a time.
